TechFest 2009 Coming Soon to Houston

The Houston TechFest 2009 registration period began recently and the schedule is available.  I have been reviewing tracks and believe I’ll be hopping between many sessions this year.  As many in Houston may recall, last year’s TechFest was actually this year due to Hurricane Ike.  We are all doing our tech dances though to ward off any bad weather since the Key Note speaker is Sam Gazitt the Program Manager for VS 2010.

It should be an exciting event.  I may be helping out since my company, Sogeti USA, is a platinum sponsor of the event.  I look forward to a great event and hope that everyone in the Houston technology community is registering to attend.

Here are the sessions that are being given by co-workers at Sogeti, USA.
  1. I love IronRuby by Mohammad Azam
  2. iPhone Development by Ben Scheirman
  3. Automated Builds and Continuous Integration by Ben Scheirman
  4. Solving the Bill of Materials Problem in SQL Server by John Cook

Also, our local Developer Evangelist for Microsoft technologies, Zain Naboulsi, will be giving a session on Windows 7 for Developers.

I will likely go to a few SharePoint sessions that were organized by the leader of the SharePoint User Group in Houston, Victor Chataboon.  You can get involved with the user group on the third Wednesday of each month by registering at http://www.sharepointusergroup.com/HOU/default.aspx.  The SharePoint track at TechFest has the following sessions:

  1. Preparing for your Organization’s SharePoint Future:  Factoring in SharePoint 2010 by Errin O’Connor
  2. Winning Strategies for SharePoint Backup and Recovery by Ronoldo Ruiz

There are more sessions already planned but not official on the TechFest site related to SharePoint.  I will try to remember to provide an update once the announcements are final.
